We work quickly with our clients to establish the scope of work by developing a comprehensive equipment list identifying long lead items for procurement, developing a process flow diagram (PFD) and a detailed process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID). These items establish the guiding design criteria and the backbone of information for the project execution. Process Engineering takes a lead role during the conceptual and systems design phases to define the process and the details of the equipment to be used.
During detailed design the finalization of diagrams, controls and electrical design will take place.
Conceptual design includes the development of preliminary P&IDs, which are finalized during systems design. The process is then specifically designed to incorporate selected process and auxiliary equipment.
